The Hymn for Orchestra opening concert on Friday 6 September features three conductors: Chief Conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Principal Guest Conductor Pekka Kuusisto and Samy Moussa, Composer-in-Residence for the 2024–2025 season. The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra will present the first performance in Finland of Samy Moussa’s Adgilis Deda – Hymn for Orchestra and Daníel Bjarnason’s From Space I Saw Earth, which will be conducted by all three members of the orchestra’s Artistic Leadership Team.
Other guest conductors this autumn include Chief Conductor Emeritus Susanna Mälkki, Simon Crawford-Phillips, Anna-Maria Helsing, Kristian Sallinen and Nathalie Stutzmann. The season culminates with Haydn’s The Creation conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock.
Guest soloists during the season include pianist Yefim Bronfman, violinist Karen Gomyo, cellist Senja Rummukainen, baritone Christian Gerhaher and pianist Nelson Goerner, who will also travel with the orchestra as soloist on a tour of Spain on 10–15 November. Other soloists during the tour will be violinist Jan Söderblom and flautist Niamh McKenna from the orchestra’s own ranks.
